Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) is intensifying Dewan Kerajinan Nasional Daerah (Dekranasda) activities at hotels in the area to boost the economy in the hospitality industry sector.

According to West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah, these efforts can help increase hotel occupancy while expanding promotion and marketing for Dekranasda business actors.

“We have been implementing this since the beginning of the year with the event calendar in West Jakarta. We have Dekranasda go to mall/hotel. This is an innovative programme from West Jakarta that showcases Dekranasda products in malls and hotels,” Iin told ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In addition, Iin said that through the Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department (Sudin Parekraf), interventions are also being carried out by the West Jakarta hotel association through technical guidance (bimtek).

“On the hospitality side, there is an association. This has become the core business of Sudin Parekraf,” Iin stated.

Previously, the West Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department (Sudin Parekraf) conducted several assistance efforts for the hospitality industry, which was recorded as sluggish in 2026.

Head of the Hospitality Industry Section of Sudin Parekraf Jakbar, Gun Gun Mujiantara, said his team has mobilised a social media team to create promotional videos for assisted hotels and use the Sudin Parekraf Jakarta Barat social media as a promotional platform.

Furthermore, they are maximising limited activity budgets by holding meetings or technical guidance sessions (bimtek) at hotels.

“Why do we choose hotels for certain activities? Because we do have a budget, although limited, and the hotels also provide discounted rates, not the full price, especially for our assisted hotels. That’s one way,” Gun Gun explained.

It is known that the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that the room occupancy rate (TPK) for starred hotels in the capital in February 2026 reached 51.72%, down 0.78% compared to January 2026.

Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, said the decline also occurred annually, by 7.35%.

A similar condition occurred for the TPK of non-starred hotels, recorded at 36.01%, down 2.89 percentage points monthly and 8.5 percentage points annually.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay for guests at starred hotels in Jakarta in February 2026 was 1.59 nights or one to two days.

“This figure rose by 0.07 points compared to January 2026 monthly, but fell by 0.01 points compared to February 2025 annually,” Kadarmanto said.

For non-starred hotels, the average length of stay in February 2026 was recorded at 1.38 nights. This figure rose by 0.04 points monthly and 0.01 points annually.

Looking at the proportion of guests, the majority of those staying at starred hotels in Jakarta in February 2026 were Indonesian guests, with a proportion of 89.42%. Meanwhile, foreign guests accounted for 10.58%.
