West Jakarta Immigration Office Ensures Public Services Remain Normal Following KPK Sting Operation

The Class I Special Immigration Office (Non-TPI) of West Jakarta has emphasised that all immigration services provided to the public remain operational as usual following a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday morning.

Siti Adytion, Head of the Immigration Information and Communication Section at the West Jakarta Immigration Office, ensured that the enforcement action against one of the officials in her agency has not impacted the delivery of public services. “As of now, public services at the West Jakarta Immigration Office are running normally,” Siti stated via text message in Jakarta on Wednesday.

However, Siti revealed that her office is currently unable to provide further details regarding the chronology of the incident or the identity of the official detained during the operation. The West Jakarta Immigration Office is currently awaiting coordination and direction from relevant authorities at the central level. “For further confirmation on other matters, we are awaiting coordination with the Directorate General of Immigration,” she added.

Previously, the KPK confirmed that it had conducted a sting operation within the West Jakarta Immigration Office environment and detained several officials on Wednesday. “That is correct,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To date, the anti-corruption agency has not disclosed detailed information regarding the identities of those detained or the evidence seized during the operation. In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has a maximum of 24 hours to determine the legal status of the individuals detained in the sting operation.
