West Jakarta Government Rearranges Twin Jelambar Depot to Address Rubbish Accumulation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) is reorganising the Twin Jelambar Depot in Grogol Petamburan to address the rubbish problem at the location.
The Head of the West Jakarta Environmental Office, Achmad Hariadi, stated that the site will be turned into a place or parking area for residents’ rubbish carts from RW 08 and RW 09 Jelambar by the sub-district office.
“From the sub-district side, the Twin Depot will be a ‘cart pool’ location, so the rubbish will be parked in carts until the collection truck arrives,” Hariadi said when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Head of Jelambar Sub-district, Pradista Machdala Putra, said that to support supervision, RW 09 will install CCTV and barrier nets, while RW 08 will prepare lighting and other supporting facilities.
“A monitoring post with officers on rotating duty will also be established at the depot site,” Pradista stated.
Furthermore, Pradista continued, rubbish from RW 06 and RW 07 will no longer be accommodated at the Twin Depot but will be redirected to another location at Jalan Empang Bahagia RT 01/RW 06 Jelambar.
“We will also propose the addition of one large truck fleet to the West Jakarta Environmental Office to support the separation of rubbish collection between areas,” he concluded.
According to him, the reorganisation of the twin rubbish depot is a strategic step in improving environmental quality to make it comfortable and clean.
“This is a form of collective commitment to maintaining cleanliness and creating a healthy environment,” he added.
