West Jakarta Government Inaugurates FKPMS to Prevent Violence in Schools

The West Jakarta City Government is strengthening efforts to prevent brawls, bullying, violence, and various issues in the educational environment through the inauguration of the Police and Community School Partnership Forum (FKPMS) at the vocational high school (SMK) level.

The FKPMS inauguration was attended by representatives of 51 public and private SMKs under the West Jakarta Region 2 Education Sub-Department and took place at the West Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Monday.

“This forum will be able to assist schools in maintaining security and order. The forum can serve as a forum for communication, coordination, collaboration, and even counselling,” said West Jakarta Deputy Mayor Ali Murtadho in Jakarta on Monday.

Ali said the FKPMS is targeted to become a platform for communication, coordination, collaboration, and counselling in handling security and order issues within the school environment.

According to him, the existence of the FKPMS is a strategic step to curb various problems such as brawls, bullying, promiscuity, and other issues that have the potential to disrupt the security and comfort of students.

Ali requested that the forum not stop at ceremonial activities, but become a routine agenda with meetings at least once a month to discuss and find solutions to problems occurring in the school environment.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Police Community Development Unit Head Commissioner Agung Nugroho said the FKPMS is a form of synergy between the police, schools, parents, and the community in creating a safe and conducive educational environment.

“The presence of this forum is a strategic step in strengthening the partnership between the police, schools, parents, and the surrounding community. This forum serves as a platform for coordination, communication, and problem-solving quickly and precisely,” he said.

On the other hand, Head of the West Jakarta Region 2 Education Sub-Department Muhammad Arif Rachman assessed that the forum can strengthen coordination in handling potential violence, brawls, and misuse of information technology in the school environment.

“Various potential problems inside and outside schools, such as violence, brawls, and misuse of information technology, can be resolved through coordination, communication, and collaboration to maintain security and order within and around the school environment,” he said.
