Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar), through the Environmental Office, followed up on the pollution case of a drainage channel by screen printing industrial waste on Jalan Jelambar Baru IV No. 13, RT 07 RW 07, Jelambar, Grogol Petamburan, on Monday.

Manahan, Head of the Legal Supervision and Arrangement Section of the West Jakarta Environmental Office (LH), stated that the follow-up was carried out through mediation held by Jelambar Sub-District with the screen printing business owner. In the mediation, the salon owner admitted their mistake in disposing of waste.

“The business actor is aware of the mistake and violation committed, as well as the adverse impacts on the environment,” said Manahan in Jakarta on Monday.

Furthermore, the business actor agreed to close the screen printing wastewater discharge channel.

“The business actor agreed to close the waste discharge channel on the same day, witnessed by the local RT Chairman, RW, and LMK,” said Manahan.

The waste suction will be carried out by a licensed party from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Furthermore, the Pemkot Jakbar also issued a warning to the business actor with a one-week deadline to improve the waste disposal system.

“Then, the business actor is also required to adjust the Indonesian Business Field Standard Classification (KBLI) according to the business activity,” he said.

He added that if violations are still found, Satpol PP together with the West Jakarta Environmental Office will close the business activity in accordance with applicable regulations.

Meanwhile, Jelambar Sub-District Head Pradista Machdala Putra emphasised the importance of supervision and collective awareness in protecting the environment from dangerous waste pollution.

“Strict regulations and law enforcement need to be carried out so that industry can continue to develop without damaging the environment,” he added.
