West Jakarta Fire Department Details Chronology of GRIB Post Fire

A post belonging to the mass organisation (ormas) GRIB, located at Jalan Manunggal V No.58 2, RT 02/RW 03, Kedoya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, was gutted by fire in the early hours of Monday (31/8).

Head of Operations at the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department (Gulkarmat), Syaiful Kahfi, confirmed that the fire report was received at 02.49 WIB. Officers responded quickly by dispatching a unit one minute after the report came in.

“As soon as we received the report at 02.49 WIB, the unit departed at 02.50 WIB. It arrived at the scene at 02.56 WIB and immediately began extinguishing the fire,” said Syaiful in a written statement on Monday (31/8).

In the initial stage of firefighting, seven fire engines with a strength of 35 personnel were deployed to the scene. The personnel came from Kembangan Sector with three units, Puri Sakti Post with one unit, and Kebon Jeruk Sector with three units.

Thanks to the rapid response, the fire was successfully contained by officers at 03.06 WIB. Syaiful added that once the fire was under control, officers immediately carried out a cooling process to ensure there were no remaining hotspots that could potentially reignite.

To optimise handling on the ground, West Jakarta Gulkarmat added one additional unit from Jalan C Post with the support of five personnel. The final total strength deployed to extinguish the mass organisation post fire reached eight units with 40 personnel.

The entire extinguishing and cooling operation was declared complete at 03.28 WIB. Syaiful confirmed that conditions at the scene are now conducive.

“The situation is safe and the firefighting operation has been declared complete,” he concluded.
