West Jakarta Conducts Surprise Inspection of Festive Allowance Payments at Shopping Centres
Jakarta—The West Jakarta Sub-Office of Labour, Transmigration and Energy conducted surprise inspections of festive allowance (Tunjangan Hari Raya, THR) payments at shopping centres in the Puri Kembangan area on Monday.
Jackson D. Sitorus, head of the West Jakarta Labour, Transmigration and Energy Sub-Office, stated that the surprise inspection was conducted to ensure workers’ rights to THR were being fulfilled.
“The purpose of this inspection is to ensure that all companies, although we are currently at just one location, are fulfilling their normative obligations. The festive allowance is a right for all employees,” he said following the inspection.
Based on the inspection results, a daily necessities shopping centre in the Kembangan area of West Jakarta had completed its THR obligations to employees. “Alhamdulillah, GrandLucky (Puri Indah Mall) has provided employee rights, particularly THR, well and ahead of the scheduled time,” Jackson stated.
An employee named Dicky confirmed he had received his THR from his workplace. Similarly, another employee named Ilias reported: “My payment was processed on 6 March, according to my base salary.”
Budi Hermawan, Human Resources & General Affairs manager at GrandLucky, noted that 120 employees at the shopping centre had received their THR payments. He suggested it would be beneficial if THR inspections were also conducted at other companies, though he understood the sampling methodology and complaint centres established by the West Jakarta Sub-Office.
In addition to West Jakarta, THR inspections were also conducted in four other city areas: PT Soho Global Health in East Jakarta, PT Steel Center Indonesia in North Jakarta, Wisma 46 BNI Tower in Central Jakarta, and PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia in South Jakarta. Based on the inspection results, these companies had fulfilled their THR obligations to employees.
