West Jakarta conducts drug tests for hundreds of FKDM members

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Kesbangpol Office conducted drug tests for 464 members of the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM) on Thursday.

Head of the West Jakarta Kesbangpol Office, Tumpal Matondang, stated that the activity was aimed at ensuring all FKDM members are free from drug abuse.

“This test is to ensure that all FKDM members are truly clean from drugs. It also serves as a preventive measure while providing understanding and reinforcing commitment among members,” Tumpal said in Jakarta on Thursday.

In addition, the test aims to strengthen the role of FKDM as the frontline in early detection of potential societal disturbances.

Furthermore, Tumpal appreciated the support from the DKI Jakarta Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP).

This is considering several vulnerable points for drug circulation in the West Jakarta area that need to be anticipated seriously.

“Our region has a fairly high potential for drug vulnerability. Therefore, we must start from the internal side, ensuring that FKDM members as the frontline are truly clean and can serve as examples in society,” he explained.

Although some FKDM members were unable to attend, all are still required to undergo the test by providing an official certificate.

“Everyone is obliged to participate. If absent without explanation, they will be considered as not supporting the national drug eradication programme,” he emphasised.

He added that the activity does not burden participants as all costs are covered through support from relevant parties, so maximum participation is expected.

As a follow-up, Tumpal emphasised that based on applicable regulations, FKDM members are strictly prohibited from being involved in drug abuse.

“If any are proven positive, the sanction is firm, namely dismissal. We will immediately hold a plenary meeting in accordance with the applicable rules,” he added.
