West Jakarta City Government to Summon Victims and Suspected Fake Job Distributors

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta city government, through its Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-agency (Sudin Nakertransgi), will next week summon the suspected providers of bogus job vacancies along with the victims who feel they have been harmed.

West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah said the two parties would be summoned separately to give their statements.

“On Monday (13/7) or Tuesday (14/7) we will summon them. The company (the suspected bogus job vacancy provider) will be summoned, as well as the victims, or the jobseekers. Each will be summoned and questioned first,” she told reporters in Jakarta on Friday.

Iin said Sudin Nakertransgi had inspected the location of the suspected bogus job placement operation on Wednesday (8/7) and Thursday (9/7).

Following the initial inspection, the parties agreed to appear before the West Jakarta municipal government next week.

Previously, members of a group suspected of providing bogus job vacancies in the Pangeran Tubagus Angke shophouse area of West Jakarta acknowledged that they were placement brokers for a company seeking workers.

Iin conveyed this following the results of the inspection by officials of the Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-agency at the location where the group operated.

However, until now the West Jakarta municipal government has not known the identity or whereabouts of the company in question. Sudin Nakertransgi is still investigating the company.

Several cases of fraudulent recruitment in West Jakarta have come to light after applicants were found to have paid considerable sums of money for the job vacancies they hoped for, yet never received any clarity.
