West Jakarta City Government to Hold Free Cataract Surgery Operation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government will hold a social service event in the form of free cataract surgery on 11 April 2026 at Cengkareng Hospital. “Insha’Allah, we will collaborate again with one of the community figures and Cengkareng Hospital. We will hold free cataract surgery,” said West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday. Her side also invited West Jakarta residents to participate in the free cataract surgery social service. “So, if anyone wants to register, please register directly through the community health centre or the sub-district office,” said Iin. The quota for the free cataract surgery is 250 people. “We don’t limit it, the initial target is 250 people. But if more than 250 people, the team will also be ready to help. Hopefully, this will help people who are hindered by their eyes,” she said. The free cataract surgery social service is held in commemoration of Kartini Day 2026, which is planned to be attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung. “The implementation is on 11 April 2026. Insha’Allah, we will mark it in West Jakarta, the Governor will kindly attend. Alhamdulillah, West Jakarta becomes the place for an example or locus of ‘Jakarta Bebas Katarak’,” she said. Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Health Sub-Department, Sahruna, said that registration for the free cataract surgery will be from 6 March to 3 April 2026. This will be followed by health screening at the community health centre from 6 March to 4 April 2026, then pre-operation on 4 April 2026, surgery on 11 April 2026, and post-operation control on 12 April 2026. “The surgery will be carried out at Cengkareng Hospital. Currently, 256 people have registered,” she said.
