West Jakarta City Government Holds Blood Donation Drive to Celebrate Jakarta's 499th Anniversary

The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar), together with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), held a blood donation drive in celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary.

West Jakarta City Secretary Firmanudin Ibrahim stated that the initial target was 200 donors from the ranks of Civil Servants (ASN), Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), and Other Individual Service Providers (PJLP). “Currently, nearly 400 participants have registered,” Firman said in Jakarta on Thursday, expressing confidence that the target would be surpassed after the health screening process.

He noted that the number of registrants reflects the enthusiasm of employees to contribute to the community in need of blood donations. “We are collaborating with the West Jakarta PMI to meet the blood needs of the community. It is encouraging that participants are not only ASN but also PPPK and PJLP taking part in this humanitarian activity,” he added.

Firman further mentioned that similar activities would be intensified leading up to Jakarta’s 499th anniversary. “This is part of the West Jakarta City Government’s contribution to welcoming Jakarta’s five-century milestone,” he said.

One participant, Bagas (35), a PJLP, shared his experience. “I haven’t donated blood in quite a while. During the process, there was a slight pinch from the needle, but overall, I felt fine. Afterwards, I felt a bit dizzy, but it quickly returned to normal,” he recounted. Bagas expressed hope that the blood donated by him and fellow participants would be useful for those in need, particularly for communities across West Jakarta and the entire city.
