The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) has declared its commitment to empowered women in line with the commemoration of Kartini Day. West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainah stated that the Kartini Day event carries the message that women must be resilient and empowered. “Recent developments in the times have demanded multi-talented roles from women. Not only able to manage the household, but also able to create and be empowered to support family food security,” said Iin in Jakarta on Wednesday. Iin also reminded of women’s roles as mothers capable of educating children well, including preventing children from becoming addicted to gadgets amid digitalisation developments. “Direct interaction forms must be carried out not always using gadgets. So when there is space that a mother can do with her child, it will provide good educational intervention,” said Iin. Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rany Mauliani, added that today’s event is a symbol of strengthening among fellow women. According to her, women who are present in the midst of society, whether housewives or workers in various institutions, must remain homes for their children and can continue to have an impact on fellow women in the real world. She emphasised that women today work not only to help their husbands earn a living, but as a form of real work. “Not belittling the men, but this is our way of celebrating the strengthening among fellow women to continue giving impact to society, especially in West Jakarta,” she said. The event was also attended by Deputy for Gender Equality of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Amurwani Dwi Lestariningsih, Deputy Chairmen of the DPRD Ima Mahdiah and Rani Mauliani, Chair of the DWP DKI Jakarta Lisniawati Uus, Head of the West Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office Nurul Wahida, Head of the West Jakarta National Land Agency Shinta Purwitasari, and several collaborators.
