West Jakarta City Administration Demolishes 20 Semi-Permanent Structures in Cengkareng

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Joint officers from the West Jakarta City Government carried out the clearance of 20 semi-permanent buildings situated on land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government on Jalan Rasamala Hijau III, RT 003 RW 09, Duri Kosambi Urban Village, Cengkareng Subdistrict, on Thursday.

“The clearance was carried out on land owned by the Provincial Government. Because all elements of government, especially the three pillars, have the authority to secure all assets belonging to the state,” said the Cengkareng Subdistrict Head, Suhardin, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.

He stressed that assets belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must not be misused for personal or group interests.

“If someone else exploits or uses government assets without permission, that constitutes a violation,” said Suhardin.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Youth and Sports Sub-Department, Joko Suparno, said his office had followed legal procedures for the clearance of 20 trader stalls located on land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

“We can confirm that this clearance has gone through a series of legal procedural stages, starting with socialisation, the issuance of warning letters one, two and three, through to the demolition of the semi-permanent buildings,” he said.

“Around 20 semi-permanent buildings belonging to traders were demolished. The clearance went smoothly, assisted by heavy machinery,” he said.

Joko further explained that his office would reorganise the 3,300-square-metre plot of land previously used as trading stalls by 20 traders.

Their presence had emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as a form of adaptation to the economic conditions faced by the community at the time.

The reorganisation of the asset has been coordinated across regional agencies and will be realised at the end of July 2026. The budget for fencing off the area has also been prepared, so the reorganisation process can begin immediately.

“We have coordinated with all relevant parties. The fencing of the area will begin at the end of this month and the budget is already available. Once all administrative stages are complete, we will immediately follow up on the ground as part of efforts to restore the function of the government asset as a sports facility,” said Joko.
