West Jakarta BPS targets three urban villages for 2026 Cantik programme

The West Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is targeting three sub-districts in the implementation of the Kelurahan Cinta Statistik (Cantik) programme in 2026.

“This year is the fourth year, we are targeting three sub-districts, namely Srengseng, Kebon Jeruk, and Rawa Buaya,” said Head of West Jakarta BPS, Muhammad Noval, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Through the programme, West Jakarta BPS provides statistical coaching to sub-district officials.

Noval detailed three objectives of the programme. First, to improve the ability of sub-district officials to carry out statistical activities.

“Second, so that they can utilise existing data in the sub-district to make it more effective and beneficial. Third, to improve statistical literacy, such as how to read, understand and present statistical data,” he said.

Each sub-district has a specific coaching topic according to the needs of the respective area.

“For Rawa Buaya Sub-district, we are raising the theme of disability groups, Srengseng Sub-district about waste banks, while Kebon Jeruk is about stunting handling,” said Noval.

“So through data, the wider community will know that in Rawa Buaya there is a disability group along with various activities they have carried out,” he said.

According to him, by informing the existence and activities of these groups in a data-driven manner, access for residents with disabilities can be opened more widely.

“The community or other parties who want to participate or provide assistance can act in a targeted manner,” said Noval.

Meanwhile, the waste bank data collection topic for Srengseng Sub-district is carried out to expose the existence of waste banks. “Starting from the number of units, processing capacity, to the economic benefits produced for residents,” he said.

The stunting data collection topic for Kebon Jeruk Sub-district was chosen to expose stunting data in the area. “Kebon Jeruk is an urban area and business district, but the reality is that stunting cases still exist. The data will be presented to open the eyes of the public and the government that this problem needs special attention,” said Noval.

With this data, there will be CSR programmes or assistance from private companies in the surrounding area to help address stunting.

“All data from these sub-districts is packaged and presented in the form of infographics, area profiles, and the publication of sub-district magazines,” he said.
