West Jakarta Administration Distributes 8,000 Flags Ahead of Independence Day

The West Jakarta City Government has distributed 8,000 Red and White flags to the public to enliven the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence.

West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah said the thousands of flags were distributed to road users, users of public facilities, and residents living in their homes.

“The flags are distributed to road users and the wider community so that we can together fly the Red and White flag at our respective homes, on vehicles, and in public facilities,” Iin told ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Iin said that of the total 8,000 flags prepared, 1,000 flags measuring 120x80 centimetres and 90x60 centimetres were distributed to the public.

The flag distribution activity is a follow-up to the Minister of Home Affairs letter Number 400.10.1.1/5191/SJ dated 10 July 2026 concerning the Red and White Flag Distribution Movement.

“This flag distribution movement is a mandate from the Ministry of Home Affairs Circular in order to enliven the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence,” said Iin.

According to her, the flag distribution movement is not merely about distributing a national symbol, but also about fostering a love for the homeland, strengthening unity, and respecting national symbols.

“This activity is carried out simultaneously throughout DKI Jakarta as a manifestation of the spirit of togetherness in filling the independence,” she said.

Iin also asked all sub-district and ward officials to encourage the public to display the Red and White flag at their homes and in their respective neighbourhoods during the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

“We are ensuring that all sub-district and ward levels urge all residents to display the Red and White flag at their respective homes. This is an independence day that we must all enliven together,” she concluded.
