West Bandung targets Middle East tourists to develop tourism sector
The West Bandung Regency Government, West Java, is aiming to increase international tourist visits, particularly from the Middle East region, by introducing the area’s tourism potential to delegations from Dubai.
The Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail, stated in West Bandung on Monday that the arrival of several delegations from Dubai presents an opportunity to introduce West Bandung’s various tourism potentials to the international market.
“This could attract investors from other countries, such as Dubai. Today, we can showcase the various tourism potentials available in West Bandung. We hope that today’s event can create future investment opportunities so that our tourism can become internationally renowned,” he said.
In an effort to expand this market, Jeje also stated that the local government’s primary goal is to increase international tourist visits to various destinations within West Bandung as much as possible.
Jeje noted that West Bandung is currently beginning to attract international tourists, including those from Malaysia and India, and therefore this potential needs to be continuously developed so that more foreign tourists become acquainted with the region’s destinations.
Efforts to expand the tourist market are also being undertaken by the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of West Bandung Regency, by introducing local tourist destinations to travel agents and tour operators from Dubai.
The Chairman of the West Bandung Regency Branch of PHRI, Eko Suprianto, mentioned that the character of tourists from the Middle East region, who prefer cool climates, presents an opportunity to promote Lembang as one of the preferred tourist destinations in Indonesia.
According to him, these natural characteristics serve as capital for West Bandung to expand the promotion of regional tourist destinations to the international market.
Through this introduction via the meeting, the West Bandung Regency Government hopes that more international tourists will choose West Bandung as a travel destination and become familiar with the various available attractions.
