West Bandung Residents Disturbed and Threatened by Mining Trucks Passing Through Residential Areas

Residents of Citatah Village, Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, are complaining about the activity of mining trucks passing through residential routes. The activity of trucks transporting mining products is disrupting comfort and threatening the safety of the community.

Residents assess that the intensity of mining trucks accessing the Cibogo-Cibuntu road in Citatah Village has become excessively high. In addition to triggering dust and noise, these heavy-tonnage vehicles are also said to cause road damage and cracks in several houses along the route.

“There was an incident where a wheel rim flew dozens of metres. Fortunately, no residents were by the roadside at that time; if there had been, it would have been dangerous,” said Impart Marsinah (32), a local resident, on Monday (18/5/2026).

She stated that the presence of mining trucks also causes traffic congestion, thick dust during dry weather, and mud when it rains. The vibrations from the heavy vehicles are also considered to disturb the comfort of residents living near the road.

Citatah Village is known to be a main route for vehicles transporting stone from the Citatah karst area. In a single day, approximately 40 to 50 trucks are reported to pass through, with a total of over 100 trips. Each vehicle is estimated to carry a load of around 14 to 15 tonnes.
