West Bandung Regency Demolishes 16 Illegal Buildings on Drainage After Warnings Ignored
The West Bandung Regency administration dismantled 16 illegal buildings on Jalan Letkol GA Manulang, Kampung Sudimampir, Padalarang Village, Padalarang District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Monday (31/8/2026) for violating regulations. The demolition was carried out by a joint team comprising the West Bandung Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUTR), the Transportation Agency (Dishub), the Indonesian National Armed Forces/National Police, and the Padalarang District Government. Heavy equipment was deployed to demolish the buildings erected on irrigation and drainage channels.
“We are carrying out enforcement against 16 illegal buildings located on Jalan GA Manulang, Sudimampir, Padalarang. This is the initial or first phase. For this initial phase, there are 16 buildings that we have dismantled. We will continue to move to other locations,” said Amir Mahmud, Head of the Public Order and Community Peace and Civil Protection Division of the West Bandung Satpol PP, when contacted.
Prior to the enforcement, he said, the West Bandung Regency administration had issued warning letters (SP) 1 through 3 asking the owners of the illegal buildings to demolish them independently. However, by the specified deadline, the warnings had not been heeded, prompting the government to take forced enforcement measures.
The enforcement was carried out based on applicable provisions and regulations. The government ensured that the demolition was not conducted arbitrarily.
“This enforcement is carried out in accordance with existing regulations. So, we are not simply selecting or dismantling arbitrarily, but based on applicable provisions,” Amir stressed.
Amir said that the enforcement against illegal buildings violating regulations will not stop at these 16 structures. It will continue to other locations.
“This is an initial step, and going forward enforcement will continue to be carried out in phases at other locations,” he said.
