The West Bandung Regency Government, West Java, is preparing supporting infrastructure to anticipate an increase in international tourist visits as part of efforts to expand the region’s tourism market to an international scale.

The Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail, stated in West Bandung on Monday that infrastructure readiness is a priority for the local government to ensure that increased tourist visits are supported by adequate access and facilities.

“Therefore, the local government must prioritise creating supporting infrastructure for all tourists in West Bandung,” he said.

These efforts have been carried out through the repair of several road sections across various areas of West Bandung, including routes that serve as access to tourist destinations.

The Regency Government has completed the repair of 1.8 kilometres of the 2.3-kilometre Ciririp-Bangsaya Road in the Cililin District, while the remaining 500 metres have entered the initial concrete paving stage.

In the Lembang area, the local government previously completed the repair of 1.3 kilometres of the Cilumber-Cikole Road using hotmix, while the Cikareumbi-Cikidang section was addressed through 267 metres of concrete pavement construction.

Jeje noted that these infrastructure developments are being carried out in stages, considering field conditions and requirements, including the equitable distribution of development to the southern regions of West Bandung.

According to Jeje, developing destinations in the southern region is part of an effort to expand tourism options in West Bandung so that they are not solely concentrated in the northern area.

With improved infrastructure readiness and the gradual development of destinations, the West Bandung Regency Government hopes that access to tourist areas will continue to improve, thereby supporting an increase in both domestic and international tourist arrivals.
