West Bandung Landslide Victims Propose Independent Relocation as Government Plan Delayed to 2027

A total of 32 families affected by a landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, are proposing to relocate independently as the government’s relocation plan is not expected to be realised until 2027. The prolonged wait has left residents in a state of uncertainty, forcing them to remain in temporary rented accommodation.

Village Head Nur Awaludin Lubis stated that the delay is due to budget constraints within the West Bandung Regency government. He explained that while the government has allocated Rp600,000 per month for each affected family to cover rent, residents are increasingly anxious about the lack of a permanent solution. The uncertainty is affecting not only their housing situation but also their employment, children’s education, and overall economic stability.

Following a village consultation, a formal proposal has been submitted to the West Bandung Regency administration requesting permission for independent relocation. Lubis noted that residents wish to choose a new location that allows them to maintain access to their farmland, jobs, and social environment. He added that the government has yet to provide details on the budget or a specific site for the planned 2027 relocation, which would require approximately two hectares of land for housing and public facilities.
