West Bandung Environmental Agency Identifies Factory Causing Snow-Like Pollution

A mining processing company located on Jalan Bandung-Cianjur, Gunungmasigit Village, Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency (KBB), West Java, has been proven to be the source of air pollution. This pollution has caused the visual appearance of the residential area to resemble falling snow.

Based on investigations by the West Bandung Regency Environmental Agency (DLH KBB), the company, PT Batu Emisi, was found to lack an adequate emission control system, allowing production dust to escape into the atmosphere. The company has been issued administrative sanctions, which include the obligation to amend environmental documents, reduce production capacity, and install emission control equipment.

“The results of the summons were recorded in an official report. The conclusion is that they must create or revise their environmental documents,” stated the Environmental Supervisor Officer (PPLH) of the West Bandung Regency Environmental Agency, Adhi Setyowibowo, when confirmed on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

PT Batu Wangi is also required to revise its environmental documents, prepare Technical Approvals (Pertek) for emissions, Technical Approvals for domestic wastewater, and other technical documents under the authority of the West Bandung Regency Government, as well as reduce the production capacity of calcium carbonate powder until an emission control system is installed.

“Until they install an exhaust system, they must reduce their production capacity. They are not being forced to stop operations, but they must scale back for now,” said Adhi.

According to him, the installation of an exhaust machine is the primary step to prevent limestone processing dust from escaping into the air. The company has stated that it will immediately bring the equipment from Jakarta, and the installation process will be supervised by officials from the Environmental Agency.
