West Bandung Education Office to rehabilitate 182 primary and junior secondary classrooms
The Education Office (Disdik) of West Bandung Regency (KBB), West Java, is targeting the rehabilitation of 182 classrooms at primary and junior high school level throughout 2026 with a budget of tens of billions of rupiah.
Acting Head of the West Bandung Education Office, Edy Syafrudin, said the regional government has allocated approximately Rp16 billion each for classroom repairs at primary school (SD) and junior high school (SMP) level.
“For primary schools, there are 134 classrooms in 80 schools; for junior high schools, 48 classrooms in 18 schools. The budget is Rp16 billion for primary level and Rp16 billion for junior high level,” Edy said when contacted in West Bandung on Thursday.
One of the schools receiving rehabilitation allocation this year is SMP Negeri 2 Ngamprah.
The West Bandung Education Office confirmed it will repair three classrooms at the school with an estimated budget of around Rp400 million.
According to Edy, the rehabilitation at SMPN 2 Ngamprah is being carried out in stages based on the direction of West Bandung Regent Jeje Ritchie Ismail, following the condition of several school facilities that have suffered moderate damage.
He said the rehabilitation of all damaged rooms cannot be carried out at once because this year’s West Bandung regional budget (APBD) allocation is also being used for classroom repairs at other schools at primary and junior high level.
In addition to relying on the West Bandung APBD, his office has proposed the rehabilitation of 29 classrooms at SMPN 2 Ngamprah to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education at the end of 2025.
According to him, the proposal has gone through the ministry’s verification process, but as of the second semester of 2026 there is still no certainty regarding the realisation of the repair assistance.
“At the end of last year we proposed the rehabilitation of 29 classrooms and it has been verified by the ministry. Hopefully it will be approved for repair,” he said.
Edy also asked schools to maximise the use of school operational assistance (BOS) funds to handle minor damage. According to regulations, a portion of BOS funds can be used for maintenance activities of school facilities and infrastructure.
