West Bandung Civil Servant Named Corruption Suspect in Rp1.5 Billion Grant Case Suspended

A civil servant (ASN) within the West Bandung Regency Government, identified by the initial S, has been officially suspended from his position. The move was taken after S was named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption involving a grant from the West Java Provincial Government for the 2024 fiscal year, worth Rp1.5 billion. West Bandung Regional Secretary Ade Zakir Hasyim confirmed that the suspect designation carries firm administrative consequences for the civil servant. In addition to the temporary suspension, the West Bandung Regency Government has also decided not to provide legal aid to S. “Because he committed corruption, we will not provide assistance. That is the regulation,” Ade Zakir stated in West Bandung on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Ade explained that the sanctions imposed on S are not limited to his deactivation from the position of Head of Community and Village Empowerment (Kasi PMD) at the Cipongkor District Office. S must also face the suspension of his salary in accordance with regulations applicable to civil servants entangled in criminal cases. “There is a salary suspension and sanctions in accordance with the provisions up to dismissal,” he added. However, Ade stressed that S’s current status is still a temporary suspension. The process for permanent dismissal or termination will only be processed after a court decision with permanent legal force (inkracht) is issued. “For permanent dismissal, there are stages. Currently, his status is still inactive while awaiting the final legal process,” he clarified. Previously, the District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) of Bandung Regency named and detained S in his capacity as Chairman of the Anwarurohman Foundation in Cipongkor District. S is suspected of misusing the grant funds from the West Java Provincial Government, which were supposed to be allocated for the foundation’s interests. Based on the investigation results, the suspect submitted a grant proposal worth Rp1.5 billion for the procurement of 4,200 square metres of land for the foundation’s expansion and the construction of a retaining wall (TPT). However, the disbursed funds are strongly suspected of not being used according to their intended purpose. Head of the Special Crimes Section at the Bandung District Prosecutor’s Office, Wawan Kurniawan, revealed that none of the work items listed in the proposal were ever realised. “After the foundation received the grant funds of Rp1.5 billion, the items or the use of the grant funds were not carried out at all by the foundation. In other words, they were fictitious,” Wawan concluded.
