Meulaboh (ANTARA) - The West Aceh Regency government has proposed a budget of Rp26 billion to the central government for addressing various damaged infrastructure leading to the Sikundo Remote Indigenous Community (KAT) area in Pante Ceureumen sub-district.

“The Rp26 billion proposal is focused on repairing several infrastructures damaged by natural disasters such as flash floods,” said the Head of Roads and Bridges Division of the West Aceh Regency Public Works and Public Housing Department (PUPR), Beni Hardi, to ANTARA on Friday.

He mentioned that the Rp26 billion budget proposal is targeted at several damaged public facilities, including the construction of asphalt roads spanning three kilometres from Jambak in Pante Ceureumen sub-district, West Aceh Regency.

Additionally, the construction of roadside retaining walls using elephant stone material along 1,000 metres, as well as road repairs using gravel filling along five kilometres.

Beni Hardi stated that the local government submitted the budget proposal because the Jambak-KAT Sikundo access road location in Pante Ceureumen sub-district, West Aceh Regency, has frequently been hit by natural disasters such as floods and landslides, causing damage to road facilities and disrupting community activities.

The West Aceh Regency government has submitted all previous rehabilitation and reconstruction budget proposals to the central government, which have been approved by the Aceh provincial government, and it is hoped that they can soon be realised according to the proposals and regional needs.

“The government has proposed rehabilitation and reconstruction funds to the central government; we just wait to see when these funds will be transferred to the region,” said Beni Hardi.

Previously, the West Aceh Regency government proposed funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction post the 2025 flash flood disaster to the central government amounting to Rp1.28 trillion to rebuild several damaged public infrastructures and facilities due to the natural disaster.

“This Rp1.28 trillion rehabilitation and reconstruction fund proposal is to rebuild several facilities damaged by natural disasters in West Aceh over the next three years,” said Acting Regional Secretary of West Aceh Regency DR Kurdi to ANTARA in Meulaboh on Tuesday (13/1/2026).

For environmental drainage facility damage, the losses amount to more than Rp51.34 billion; the infrastructure damage due to the flash flood disaster in West Aceh Regency exceeds Rp1 trillion.

Then, for transportation facility damage, the losses reach more than Rp697.9 billion; for road handling, more than Rp616.9 billion; damage to religious facilities such as mosques and meunasah at Rp3.2 billion; cross-sector Rp4.5 billion; and various other damage impacts.

Kurdi said the Rp1.28 trillion proposal is an effort by the West Aceh Regency government to reorganise several damaged public facilities and community settlements due to ecological and hydrometeorological natural disasters that occurred on 26 November 2025.

“The proposal is an initiative to reorganise the severe damage caused by the natural disaster,” said Kurdi.
