West Aceh Regency Distributes 6 Tonnes of Fresh Meat from President Prabowo's Aid

Meulaboh (ANTARA) - The West Aceh Regency Government had, by Friday (20/3), distributed aid in the form of fresh meat for the traditional meugang observance ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah to communities affected by natural disasters, amounting to six tonnes of fresh meat provided by President Prabowo Subianto. “Specifically for West Aceh Regency, the aid distributed reaches six tonnes of meat valued at around Rp1 billion,” said West Aceh Regent Tarmizi in Meulaboh on Friday. He stated that this aid is expected to ease the burden on the community, allowing them to still experience joy in welcoming the festive day. He added that the aid from President Prabowo represents the central government’s concern for the people of Aceh, particularly those impacted by recent floods. The programme aims to strengthen community food resilience while preserving the meugang tradition ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. “This aid is expected to ease the burden on the community, so they can still feel the happiness in welcoming the festive day,” he said. According to him, the meugang tradition holds strong social and cultural values for Acehnese society. Therefore, government support is crucial to maintain this tradition, especially amid post-disaster economic conditions. With this meugang meat aid, disaster survivor communities are hoped to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with full joy, togetherness, and gratitude, said Tarmizi.
