Meulaboh (ANTARA) — The West Aceh district government has completed repairs to the access road leading to the remote indigenous community (KAT) of Sikundo in Pante Ceureumen subdistrict, which had been completely severed by flooding last Wednesday (18 February).

“Thank God, the road that was previously cut off for more than 200 metres has now been fully repaired and is passable by both motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles,” said Fadly Octora, acting head of the West Aceh Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR), speaking to reporters on Monday.

He explained that the road section, which had been completely eroded when the river overflowed its banks, has now returned to normal after the local government, together with the military (TNI), carried out the repair work.

Fadly said that to address the road damage in the remote interior of West Aceh, the district government deployed five excavators to the area.

With the completion of repairs to the access road to KAT Sikundo in Pante Ceureumen subdistrict, transport access for 195 households in the area has been confirmed as fully restored.

Fadly stated that the repairs reflect the West Aceh district government’s commitment to providing better and more reliable public transport access amid the ongoing post-flood disaster recovery being undertaken by both local and central government authorities.

“The West Aceh district government is committed to continually improving public services for the community,” Fadly Octora said.
