Wesak 2026 Alms-Giving Ceremony: Schedule, Location and Events
Information regarding the schedule and location of the alms-giving ceremony and the 2570 BE National Wesak agenda has been announced through an official publication by WALUBI (Indonesian Buddhist Community). Here is the information.
What is the Wesak Alms-Giving Ceremony?
Quoting from its official statement, the alms-giving ceremony is a tradition in Buddhist teachings involving the practice of giving donations to Bhikkhu Sangha. In this activity, devotees provide food or other necessities as a form of respect and virtue.
The alms-giving ceremony is one of the opportunities for Buddhist devotees to participate directly in the series of Wesak celebrations. The activity also serves as a moment to strengthen unity among devotees leading up to the peak of this year’s National Wesak.
Schedule and Location of the Event
Based on official information, the 2026 Wesak alms-giving ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2026. The event starts at 09:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until finished.
The activity takes place in the Candi Mendut area, Magelang, Central Java. This event features more than 50 Bhikkhu Sangha who will participate in the alms-giving procession together with Buddhist devotees.

For information, the Indonesian National Wesak 2570 BE/2026 carries the theme ‘Dharma as a Source of Morality and Wisdom: Loving-Kindness as the Source of World Peace’. The peak of the Wesak celebration is scheduled to take place on May 31st, 2026, at 15:44.44 WIB in the Borobudur temple area.
