Wendy opens new restaurant
JAKARTA (JP): PT Wendy Citrarasa opened a new restaurant on
Monday at Plaza Senayan, South Jakarta to respond to the rising
demand for fast food in the city.
President of Wendy's International John Wright said that
Indonesia was one of the six leading markets for Wendy's
products. The five others are Canada, England, Argentina, Japan
and the Philippines.
Indonesia has been targeted as a potentially large market
because of its huge population and high potential growth, he
said.
Now Wendy has 21 restaurants in Indonesia, 15 in Jakarta, two
in Bandung, three in Surabaya and one in Malang.
Budiardjo Tek of PT Wendy Citrarasa said that the company
planned to open 20 restaurants this year in Medan, Bali and
Semarang.
Though the restaurant business in Indonesia has tight
competition, its overall market is likely to increase because of
the country's economic growth, he said.
PT Wendy Citrarasa received a "Sparkle Award" two weeks ago
for the best operational system restaurant in Asia.
With 5,000 restaurants in 34 countries and US$5 billion in
annual turnover, Wendy is the third largest restaurant chain in
the world, Wright said. (29)
