Wells Run Dry: Ciamis Disaster Management Agency Supplies 766,000 Litres of Water to 14,847 Affected Residents

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Ciamis Regency is supplying clean water to 7,134 households, or 14,847 residents, affected by drought across 31 villages spanning 17 districts. The clean water crisis is continuing to expand.

The Acting Head of Ciamis Regency BPBD, Ani Supiani, stated that the drought occurring during the dry season in the region has caused the water crisis to spread across 44 hamlets and 31 villages within 17 districts. Consequently, water supplies are being provided to 7,134 households, representing 14,847 individuals.

“BPBD officers continue to supply clean water to various remote areas during this emergency disaster alert period, which is set to last until September 2026,” she said on Sunday (30/8).

According to her, the BPBD is conducting the water supply alongside the Red Cross (PMI), BBWS, Ciamis Police, Ciamis Kodim 0613, SOG Ciamis, MDMC, BJB, BRI, Samsat, and PDAM Ciamis.

“Many residents in remote areas have been experiencing a long drought, and the situation continues to widen. BPBD is distributing clean water sourced from PDAM,” Ani explained.

Several areas severely impacted by the clean water crisis include the districts of Tambaksari, Banjaranyar, Banjarsari, Cisaga, Cimaragas, Purwadadi, and Panawangan. Water distribution continues in accordance with requests from village heads.

“We urge residents to conserve clean water and use it only as necessary,” she concluded.
