Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid delivered a sermon commemorating the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 H and handed over waqf land certificates at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Central Java Governor’s Office, today. On this occasion, Nusron invited the public to make the Islamic New Year a moment for reflection and hijrah, both in personal life and in social and community affairs. “Whoever is better today than in days past is among the fortunate. If today is the same as days past, they are among the losers. Because this is the atmosphere of Muharram, let us pray together that this year 1448 Hijriah will be better than previous years,” said Nusron in a written statement on Tuesday (16/6/2026). According to him, Islam teaches the importance of continuously improving and enhancing one’s own quality. The spirit of hijrah, he continued, must also be realised in community life through efforts to safeguard and secure the assets of the ummah so they can continue to be utilised for the public interest. Through this momentum, Nusron hopes the community will continue to strengthen the values of common good, mutual cooperation, and shared responsibility in building a better life. “Hopefully this year will be better, Central Java Province will become more prosperous, and the current global atmosphere can improve, bringing blessings to us all,” he wished. On the same occasion, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi also stated that the commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah is a moment for reflection and hijrah towards a better condition. According to him, the spirit of hijrah must be realised through efforts to strengthen unity, maintain harmony, and provide solutions to various problems faced by the community. “We are reflecting, we must undertake hijrah, we must change. The hijrah we carry out is about how to make Central Java harmonious, not divided, and capable of facing the various challenges that exist today,” he explained. During the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 H commemoration, 243 waqf land certificates were handed over along with educational assistance for 100 orphans from several Islamic foundations in Central Java. Nusron was accompanied by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen, and Head of the BPN Regional Office for Central Java Province Sri Pranoto. Also present at the event was Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Achmad.
