Welcoming the Islamic New Year, Muslim Organisations Urged to Avoid Mutual Disparagement

In welcoming the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah, the General Chairman of PB Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah, KH Masyhuril Khamis, has called on Muslims and Islamic community organisations to strengthen unity amidst the various challenges facing the nation. Kiai Masyhuril stated that the challenges of the times are increasingly complex, ranging from economic hardship and social polarisation to threats of moral decay and divisive ideologies. Therefore, unity among Islamic organisations is an urgent necessity. “Differences of opinion in matters of religious branches and methods of preaching are natural and should be respected, but they must not be used as a reason for division and mutual disparagement,” he said on Monday (15/6/2026). He then quoted a verse from the Quran, Surah Ali Imran, verse 103, which commands believers to hold firmly to the rope of Allah and not be divided, and to remember Allah’s favour when they were enemies and He brought their hearts together, making them brothers by His grace, and saved them from the brink of the Fire.
