Welcoming Ramadan, South Jakarta Police Clean An-Nur Cipete Mosque
Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Jakarta Metropolitan Police personnel carried out a cleaning drive at Masjid Jami An-Nur in the Cipete Utara area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah in support of the Indonesia Safe, Healthy, Clean and Beautiful (ASRI) Movement.
“This afternoon ahead of the breaking of the fast, we begin by supporting the President’s programme, namely the ASRI programme, which has been translated by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief as Bang Jasri (Bhayangkara Jakarta Asri),” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner I Putu Yuni Setiawan in Jakarta on Monday.
Yuni said the cleaning drive was an implementation of support for the ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean and Beautiful) programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
During the activity, dozens of police personnel were deployed to clean the mosque grounds and interior.
Following the mosque cleaning, the event continued with the distribution of takjil (pre-iftar snacks) to motorists and local residents.
“We hope that through this activity, in addition to supporting the observance of the fasting month, we also maintain a clean and healthy environment,” he said.
Yuni emphasised that South Jakarta Metropolitan Police would increase patrols to prevent street brawls, illegal racing, and other street crimes, particularly to ensure comfort during the holy month of Ramadan.
He therefore urged the public not to hesitate in reporting any criminal acts, either directly at the nearest police station or via the 110 service line.
“During the holy month of Ramadan, we ask the public to avoid negative activities. For example, reckless speeding before sahur, as well as street brawls — these should be avoided,” he said.
