LRT Jabodebek management has implemented a special policy during Ramadan 1446 H, permitting passengers to break their fast aboard trains and within station areas. The relaxation applies from the Maghrib call to prayer until 7pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The policy has been introduced to accommodate the needs of passengers who are still in transit when the time to break the fast arrives, particularly during the evening commute — the peak mobility period across the Greater Jakarta (Jabodebek) area.

Under the conditions of the policy, LRT Jabodebek passengers are permitted to consume light food and beverages such as dates, bread, and drinking water during the breaking of fast window. However, heavy meals and strongly scented foods are not permitted, in order to maintain shared comfort.

The relaxation is accompanied by regulations to preserve orderly travel. Passengers are asked to be mindful of the types of food they consume and to avoid disturbing the comfort of fellow passengers on the train.

LRT Jabodebek is also providing complimentary drinking water at all stations to support passengers’ needs for breaking their fast. The facilities may be used by passengers intending to continue their journey after Maghrib.

Passengers have been reminded to maintain cleanliness whilst breaking their fast. Food and beverage waste should be kept with passengers and disposed of in bins available at destination stations.

On the operational front, LRT Jabodebek services will continue to run normally throughout Ramadan, with 430 journeys on weekdays and 270 journeys on weekends, national holidays, and collective leave days.

KAI has affirmed that the concession for breaking the fast does not compromise the safety, orderliness, or efficiency of travel services.
