Welcoming PBNU's 35th Congress, KH Zulfa Mustofa Launches Book
The Vice Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), KH Zulfa Mustofa, will launch and review his book entitled ‘Ithafu Ummati Al Muqtafa’ at the Sunda Kelapa Mosque in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday (10/7/2026). The event is titled ‘Launching and Review of the Book Ithafu Ummati Al Muqtafa’.
KH Zulfa explained that this activity serves as a tribute to the followers of the Prophet Muhammad, marking an important moment in reviving the intellectual tradition of ulama, particularly the tradition of writing books within Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), pesantren, Islamic universities, and religious institutions.
The book launch takes place ahead of the 35th PBNU Congress, amidst growing public attention on the direction of leadership, the future of scholarship, and the strategic role of NU. KH Zulfa called upon ulama, kiai, academics, and the pesantren community to revive the tradition of writing books as part of an effort to maintain the continuity of knowledge and build Islamic civilisation.
‘The tradition of the ulama is the tradition of knowledge. And the tradition of knowledge will not be strong without the tradition of writing. That is why past ulama not only educated students but also left behind books as an intellectual legacy for the ummah,’ said Kiai Zulfa in Jakarta on Thursday (9/7/2026).
According to him, from the early days of Islam to its development in the archipelago, the progress of civilisation was supported not only by the emergence of pious and moral ulama but also by the scholarly works they left behind. The books of the ulama serve as a bridge connecting knowledge across generations, remaining alive even hundreds of years after the authors have passed away.
