Preparations for Jakarta’s five-century milestone have become a momentum for PAM Jaya to introduce various improvements and innovations aimed at achieving equitable access to clean, guaranteed piped water. The company is currently intensifying excavation and expanding its pipe network across various areas, demonstrating its commitment to providing better service.

PAM Jaya officer Arriyadh expressed optimism that the target of 100 per cent service coverage for the entire DKI Jakarta area will be met. ‘One of PAM Jaya’s efforts is to achieve comprehensive 100 per cent service for DKI Jakarta. Through the momentum of Jakarta’s five centuries, we hope PAM Jaya can reach 100 per cent service, and for now, we will continue excavation and network expansion,’ said Arriyadh.

This spirit of service is also reflected in PAM Jaya’s strategy to engage more closely with the community. Through its presence at the Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) 2026, residents can now arrange new water connections far more practically, without needing to set aside special time to visit a service office. Resident Nikita experienced this convenience first-hand. Initially just curious about the installation procedure, she left with good news: a free new connection programme that could be applied for on the spot. The process is simple, requiring only a barcode scan, after which officers will follow up with a site survey, data validation, and complete installation.

‘I was quite helped. So, while strolling around PRJ, I could stop by the booth without having to go directly to the PAM office. I hope this makes it easier for the public to get new installations and helps the community in the future,’ said Nikita. Using piped water contributes to preserving Jakarta’s environment. Moving away from dependence on groundwater will reduce the risk of land subsidence, which has been a persistent environmental challenge for the city. The improvements and innovations undertaken by PAM Jaya reflect optimism that clean water services will be truly available equitably for all Jakarta residents.
