Welcoming 25th Anniversary, Here's How the Democratic Party Moves to Protect the Environment in Indonesia
The Democratic Party continued the implementation of the ‘Gerakan Langit Biru Indonesia Asri’ (Blue Sky Indonesia Beautiful Movement) in its second week on Friday, 17 July 2026, by holding 68 activities simultaneously across 62 regencies and cities throughout Indonesia. In the first week, which took place on 10 July 2026, the party carried out 69 simultaneous activities in 52 regions. Thus, a total of 137 activities have been conducted in 114 cities and regencies across Indonesia. The movement, part of a series of events welcoming the 25th Anniversary of the Democratic Party on 9 September 2026, is a form of support for the Indonesia Asri Programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to realise a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful Indonesia. National Coordinator of the Gerakan Langit Biru Indonesia Asri, Ossy Dermawan, stated that the movement is a direct instruction from the General Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), so that the 25th-anniversary commemoration is filled with concrete actions that benefit the community while supporting the government’s agenda. ‘The General Chairman ordered us to organise a movement that supports the Indonesia Asri Programme initiated by President Prabowo. The Democratic Party at the branch level, at the regency/city level, will organise various activities in turns and will continue every Friday until the end of August,’ said Ossy in a statement on Friday, 17 July 2026. In the second week, the activities carried out remained diverse, ranging from community clean-up work, tree planting, and free health checks for the public, to painting places of worship and public facilities. ‘We dedicate this movement to supporting cleanliness, comfort, order, and public health. We want the 25th anniversary of the Democratic Party to be filled with concrete actions whose benefits can be directly felt by the community,’ said Ossy. He added that General Chairman AHY also instructed that the Gerakan Langit Biru Indonesia Asri not be carried out exclusively by Democratic Party cadres. Instead, the movement must involve local governments, communities, civil society organisations, students, and various other elements of society. ‘Hopefully, this movement can reignite the spirit of mutual cooperation and togetherness within the community. Because when we talk about cleanliness, comfort, and environmental health, it is our shared responsibility. The Democratic Party wants to take part in that effort,’ said Ossy.
