Welcomed by Gibran, Prabowo Arrives in Indonesia After Visit to Russia-France

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived in Indonesia on Wednesday (15/4/2026) afternoon, after a series of visits to Russia and France since Monday (13/4/2026). Based on footage from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, the aircraft carrying Prabowo landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta. Prabowo’s arrival and entourage were welcomed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several other officials waiting at the foot of the aircraft stairs. Prabowo and Gibran exchanged respects upon meeting, with Prabowo then patting Gibran’s shoulder and shaking hands with the other officials. Prabowo briefly conversed with Gibran and his team before departing Halim in a Maung vehicle. During his visits earlier this week, Prabowo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. Prabowo candidly stated that he flew to Russia to consult with Vladimir Putin regarding the global geopolitical situation. “Therefore, we felt it was very necessary to consult on how we face future situations. And especially, if possible, we continue to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economic and energy sectors,” he added. Meanwhile, Prabowo and Macron discussed strengthening cooperation in various sectors. These included defence equipment procurement and strengthening the defence industry, energy transition and development of new renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy. “As one of the important partners in the European region, Indonesia continues to promote sustainable cooperation with France to open up new collaboration opportunities that are increasingly concrete and mutually beneficial for both countries,” Prabowo said.
