Welcome Bhutto
Welcome Bhutto
Pakistan's Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto arrives, accompanied
by about 80 businesspeople, to strengthen her country's
cooperation with Indonesia in various fields, particularly in the
economic field.
Aside from the potential of economic and political
cooperation, however, her personality is one of the main reasons
her visit attracts such widespread attention.
Although Western (British) educated, this popular leader has
not lost her Asian nature, particularly her nature as a Moslem
woman -- something which many other Western educated Asian women
have found hard not to do.
Together with Aung San Suu Kyi, the Myanmarese Nobel Prize
winner, Bhutto is a symbol of the awakening of Asia's women. Both
women are known, as is Corazon Aquino, throughout the world not
only because of their family charisma, but because of their
admirable personal integrity and intelligence.
Without exaggeration, Bhutto's personality and capacities
invite admiration. In her country's political arena, which is
never void of trouble, she fell only to rise again.
