Weight lifting title for W. Java

JAKARTA (JP): West Java outpointed favorite Lampung to win the
overall title at the national weight lifting, power lifting and
body building championships in Bekasi, West Java on Monday.

The West Javanese muscle men and women scored 160 points after
taking 70 gold medals, 78 silvers and 12 bronzes for the
President's trophy.

Lampung, the country's strongest lifter stable, snatched a
massive medal collection of 115 golds, 27 silvers and 12 bronzes
but earned only 154 points for not sending its body building
athletes.

The Sumatra side earned a consolation in the junior division,
winning 95 golds, 48 silvers and 12 bronzes to top the final
standings with 155 points. West Java finished second with 30
points adrift after collecting 80 golds, 36 silvers and nine
bronzes.

A world and four Asian junior records were shattered by
Lampung's 60kg lifter Sutrisno during the one-week weight lifting
competitions which also saw 13 national records broken.
Power lifting athletes set 25 new national records, Antara
