Weekly Stock Exchange: IHSG Strengthens by 0.18 Percent
The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) for the week or period of 4-8 May 2026 closed higher compared to the previous week. According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the weekly index rose by 0.18 percent. The IHSG closed this week at the level of 6,969.3, a slight increase from the previous week’s position of 6,956.8. The strengthening of the index is in line with the rise in the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s market capitalisation. “The BEI market capitalisation also increased by 0.19 percent to Rp12,406 trillion from Rp12,382 trillion the previous week,” as quoted from the official BEI statement on Saturday, 9 May 2026. The average frequency and value of daily IHSG transactions this week also increased, as did the daily trading volume on the exchange compared to the previous week. The highest increase occurred in the average daily BEI trading volume, which rose by 23.57 percent to 45.86 billion shares from 37.11 billion shares the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value rose by 26.14 percent to Rp23.06 trillion from Rp18.27 trillion the previous week. The average daily IHSG transaction frequency this week also increased by 9 percent from 2.34 million transactions the previous week to 2.55 million transactions. Foreign investors at the close of trading on Friday, 8 May 2026, recorded net purchases worth Rp11.42 trillion. Meanwhile, for the whole of 2026 so far, foreign investors have recorded net sales or outflow of Rp37.61 trillion. In the Financial System Stability Committee’s (KSSK) presentation on 7 May 2026, it was stated that the domestic capital market moved dynamically in the first quarter of 2026 amid increasing global uncertainties. The IHSG closed at 7,048.2 as of 31 March 2026, experiencing a correction of 18.49 percent compared to the previous quarter but still growing by 8.26 percent compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
