Weekly Economy: Logistics SOE Merger to Placement of Kopdes Managers

Various economic events occurred during the week of 29 June to 5 July 2026, ranging from the merger of seven state-owned logistics enterprises to the scheduled placement of 30,000 managers for the Kopdes Merah Putih village cooperatives starting in early August 2026.

Seven state-owned enterprises in the logistics sector officially merged under one entity through the signing of a Shareholder Agreement and a Consolidation Merger Deed in Jakarta on Tuesday. Daud Joseph, Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Logistics SOE Consolidation PMO, stated that PT Multi Terminal Indonesia, as the surviving entity, will serve as the holding company for the seven firms during the transition period.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources declared that all sectors are ready to implement the mandatory Biodiesel 50 policy, ahead of its inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto scheduled for this month. Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia confirmed the readiness, stating that all sectors are prepared for the B50 implementation pending the President’s official launch.

Statistics Indonesia projects that rice production for public consumption from January to August 2026 will reach 25.28 million tonnes, an increase of 0.01 million tonnes or 0.05 per cent compared to the same period in 2025. Ateng Hartono, Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, noted that the rise in rice production aligns with increased paddy output and expanded harvest areas across various regions.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that investment funds managed through the Indonesian International Financial Centre could become a source of financing for a number of domestic projects, including the Danantara project. Funds entering the centre will be managed by market players and invested in various projects deemed potentially profitable on a business basis, rather than through government assignments.

Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono announced that approximately 30,000 managers for the Kopdes Merah Putih village cooperative programme will begin to be placed in cooperatives across Indonesia starting in August 2026, following the completion of ongoing training programmes. Ferry noted that the placement will be carried out in stages as the physical construction of warehouses, outlets, and supporting facilities for Kopdes Merah Putih is completed.
