Weekend recommendations: Japanese art exhibitions and the Persija match

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office (Disparekraf DKI Jakarta), through its official Instagram account @disparekrafdki, has recommended a range of weekend destinations for families and friends. Here are some options:

Literacy Market

This venue is ideal for literacy enthusiasts. In addition to a wide selection of books, the fair also offers promotions.

The Literacy Market is held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) from 11 to 31 May. It is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 WIB and free of charge.

The Superlative Exhibition

For those who enjoy art, especially Japanese works, this exhibition is a good choice for a weekend visit.

The exhibition features 38 works by Japanese artists, spanning from the Meiji era (1868-1912) and kogei (traditional crafts) to contemporary art around the 2010s. Some works have been loaned from various museums in Japan.

The exhibition runs at Sakura Hall, The Japan Foundation from 09:30 to 16:30 WIB. Entry is free.

Indonesian Woman Artist #4 On The Map

Another destination for art lovers is the Indonesian Woman Artist #4 On The Map exhibition, which blends art, science, technology and culture.

The exhibition is at Galeri Nasional and is open from 10:00 to 20:00 WIB. Tickets are required for entry.

The Mystical Kecak Dance “Hanoman Duta”

A weekend visit to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) can also be a fun option for families. It’s a chance to introduce Indonesian culture to children.

On Sunday at 17:00 WIB, at the TMII Cultural Stage Amphitheatre, the Mystical Kecak Dance “Hanoman Duta” will be performed. This show requires a paid ticket.

Persija vs Semen Padang FC

This weekend, the Kemayoran tigers will play again, this time against Semen Padang FC at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

The match kicks off at 16:00 WIB. A ticket is required to watch the live game.
