Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised the obligation of civil servants (ASN) within the Jakarta Provincial Government to use public transport every Wednesday. He threatened to impose sanctions on ASN found violating the rule. This was in response to the continued presence of ASN who bring private vehicles to City Hall on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, with several vehicles seen parked in the IRTI Monas area. ‘I am a person who consistently, even if today I travel by car, still go to work using public transport,’ Pramono said. ‘If there are data and facts, I will ask the City Hall ranks, the government, Mr Sekda, Mrs Premi, to take action against anyone who violates by not using public transport,’ he continued. According to him, the policy mandating the use of public transport every Wednesday is part of efforts to improve Jakarta’s transport system while setting an example for the public. ‘Because this is an example of how we carry out and improve the transport system in Jakarta,’ he said. Regarding parking in the IRTI Monas area, Pramono said the area will be redeveloped and renovated in cooperation with the central government. ‘Actually, the IRTI area will be renovated soon, because we are cooperating with the central government and we will redevelop it,’ he said.
