Wedding Tent in East Manggarai Destroyed by Tornado

A wedding tent at Nancang Mano Field, Mandosawatar Village, South Lamba Leda, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), was damaged after being struck by a tornado. Hundreds of corrugated iron roof sheets were seen flying approximately 10 metres above the tent.

In footage obtained by detikBali, thick dust could be seen swirling violently as if emerging from the ground. The dust, concentrated within a single vortex, shifted position and moved upwards.

Moments later, the wind devastated the wedding tent, sending the metal roofing sheets flying.

“That was a tent for a wedding ceremony, not a refugee tent,” stated the Sub-district Head of South Lamba Leda, Benyamin Dansis, when confirmed on Friday (4/9/2026).

Benyamin noted that the incident occurred yesterday afternoon. The tent had been prepared for a wedding reception scheduled for today.

No fatalities or injuries were reported during the event, as no one was inside the tent when the incident occurred.

“There were no casualties,” said Benyamin.
