Wedding Organiser Owner Reported to Police After Absconding with Rp 2.4 Billion in Bandung
The wedding plans of Sunsun Nugraha Tasdik, a resident of Majalaya, Bandung Regency, have been thrown into chaos after the owner of the entrusted wedding organiser (WO) disappeared. The wedding reception was scheduled for 21 June 2026, but two weeks prior to the event, the owner—a woman identified by the initials SR from Paseh District—became unreachable.
Feeling defrauded, Sunsun and his wife, Wulan, who completed their marriage contract on 1 June 2026, have reported the incident to the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Java Regional Police. Sunsun is not alone; several other engaged couples who believe they have been deceived by the same individual have also filed reports.
“I and my friends are among those suspected to be victims of a wedding organiser in Bandung Regency. This alleged fraud emerged when several reports surfaced from friends where it was proven that fraud had occurred regarding their weddings, which could not proceed because the WO failed to make promised payments to vendors,” Sunsun stated at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday (6/6/2026).
Sunsun noted that most of the victims have not yet held their wedding receptions. “In my personal case, the loss is around Rp 70 million,” he added.
The victims of this fraudulent wedding organiser have formed a WhatsApp group consisting of 140 members, comprising 80 per cent engaged couples and 20 per cent vendors. Total losses are estimated to exceed Rp 2 billion. “If we total all the victims, it reaches approximately Rp 2.4 billion,” he said.
Separately, the Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, stated that investigators from the Criminal Investigation Directorate have not yet received the formal report. However, he urged anyone who considers themselves a victim to come forward and report the matter immediately.
