Wedding Organiser Marwah's Cheap Marriage Package Scam: Defrauded 58 Prospective Newlyweds, Owner a Recidivist
JAKARTA – Behind the alleged fraud case involving wedding organiser (WO) Marwah has emerged the revelation that the suspect, Eka Rismayanti, is not facing the law for the first time.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of East Jakarta Metro Police Precinct AKP Bayu Kurniawan stated that Eka is a recidivist in a similar case that previously occurred in West Java.
This fact emerged after investigators examined the suspect. “The suspect, identified as ER, is a recidivist in similar criminal offences in West Java,” Bayu told media on Monday, 1 June 2026.
“Both suspects attempted to flee to a location and hide. That is why a search was conducted and, thankfully, we were able to identify the perpetrators’ whereabouts,” said Bayu.
After determining the suspects’ location, the investigation team immediately moved to make arrests in West Bandung Regency, West Java.
The alleged fraud conducted by Eka Rismayanti together with her husband, Radiansyah Marwah, operated through a continuously repeating pattern. This scheme, according to Bayu, was designed to cover debts and various obligations arising from wedding projects they had handled.
“Money from these victims was cycled again by the suspects to cover previous wedding activities,” said Bayu.
He explained that the couple was allegedly repeatedly conducting wedding ceremonies using funds from other prospective newlyweds who had made new payments. “So the money essentially created a cycle of robbing Peter to pay Paul,” he said.
The losses incurred were substantial. Based on preliminary documentation, the total losses to victims have reached billions of rupiah.
