Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) together with PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) has partnered with the North Maluku Health Department to prevent and control dengue fever in order to safeguard workers’ health.

“Weda Bay Medical Center is actively carrying out dengue prevention and control efforts, including through collaboration with the provincial health department and district health departments in North Maluku,” said Manager of Weda Bay Medical Center Aldi B Situngkir, in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

The cooperation with the health department has been formalised in an agreement between the two parties, covering case reporting as well as the implementation of mosquito breeding site control and eradication in the surrounding areas.

In addition to working with the health department, Aldi stated that Weda Bay Medical Center (WMC) also serves as a healthcare facility in the Weda Bay industrial zone, North Maluku.

WMC is committed to running dengue prevention and control programmes, an infection caused by the dengue virus (DENV) transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.

“The dengue prevention and control efforts carried out include preventive steps ranging from health education, the application of 3M Plus (draining, covering, and burying), efforts to break the mosquito breeding cycle, early detection, to dengue vaccination for employees as part of occupational health protection,” he said.

Due to the various efforts undertaken, on 23 April 2026, Weda Bay Medical Center received an award from SIAP Lawan Dengue as a pioneering company committed to and contributing to dengue prevention and control in the work area.

SIAP Lawan Dengue is a collaborative movement in Indonesia under the cooperation of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Ministry of Manpower, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), which encourages worker protection from dengue through prevention efforts at the workplace.

The award assessment focused on aspects of prevention education, mosquito breeding site control, and the implementation of dengue vaccination in the work environment.

Through various ongoing prevention efforts, IWIP and WBN via Weda Bay Medical Center continue to maintain the health and safety of workers in the operational environment and strengthen the culture of clean and healthy living in the industrial zone.

In the future, the company will continue to enhance collaboration with various parties and strengthen preventive measures to optimally reduce dengue risks, creating a safe and sustainable work environment.
