Moscow (ANTARA) - The Chinese app WeChat has banned the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other automated tools for publishing content, according to a report by Yicai media on Saturday (11/4). A WeChat spokesperson stated that the platform encourages genuine human creativity and continues to support the use of tools to assist creators’ work. However, WeChat prohibits content that is entirely created by automated programmes without human intervention, said WeChat’s parent company, Tencent Holdings. The company stated that it updated its operational rules last month to prohibit users and accounts from using AI, scripts, interfaces, or automated programmes to replace humans in the production and publication of content. The new rules include a ban on content generated or combined by AI without genuine human expression, as well as mass publications through automated programmes. Accounts that violate the rules may face sanctions, ranging from restrictions and content removal to blocking. Tencent is not the only company restricting AI-based content. TikTok’s owner, ByteDance, has also intensified crackdowns on AI-generated content.
