Weather Forecast: Rain and Thunderstorms Possible in Several Cities Today

Jakarta – Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast that light rain and rain accompanied by thunderstorms could affect several major cities across the country on Tuesday (13 October).

According to information posted on BMKG’s official Instagram account (@infobmkg), thunderstorms are possible in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, and Nabire, Papua. Light rain is forecast in Tanjung Selor and Samarinda in Kalimantan, as well as Ternate, Sorong, Jayawijaya and Merauke in Maluku and Papua.

BMKG also forecast light rain in several Sumatran cities: Banda Aceh, Medan, Padang, Jambi and Bengkulu. Pekanbaru is expected to be cloudy, while hazy conditions are possible in Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang and Bandar Lampung.

On Java, Bali and the Nusa Tenggara islands, moderate rain is possible in Serang. Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Mataram and Kupang are forecast to be cloudy or overcast.

In Sulawesi, light rain is possible in Mamuju. Makassar, Palu and Gorontalo are expected to be partly cloudy to overcast. Manado could experience haze, while smoke haze is forecast in Kendari.

In Kalimantan, BMKG forecast smoke haze in Palangkaraya and hazy conditions in Banjarmasin. In Maluku and Papua, Jayapura is expected to be cloudy, while haze is possible in Ambon and Manokwari.
