Weather Forecast Monday, 8 June 2026: Beware of Very Heavy Rain in Bangka Belitung and West Sulawesi

The Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding the potential for extreme weather predicted to occur on Monday, 8 June 2026. Based on the latest analysis of atmospheric dynamics, the formation of cyclonic circulation in the region north of West Papua is the primary trigger for increased rain cloud growth across several Indonesian regions.

This cyclonic circulation has been observed in the North Pacific Ocean-West Papua region, creating wind confluence paths and wind speed deceleration (convergence). These conditions are causing a significant accumulation of moist air masses, particularly in the eastern and central regions of Indonesia.

For the weather forecast on Monday, 8 June 2026, BMKG has set an alert status for the Bangka Belitung Islands and West Sulawesi, which are prone to heavy to very heavy rainfall. The public is urged to be wary of the risks of flash floods, inundation, and strong winds.

According to BMKG weather forecast data, the convergence path extends from the waters north of North Maluku to north of West Papua. Additionally, secondary convergence points have been detected in several strategic locations.

Meanwhile, a wide area of confluence is observed stretching from the Andaman Sea, the Malacca Strait, the North Natuna Sea, to the Indian Ocean west of West Sumatra and the Makassar Strait.
